The B. C. Roy Memorial Drawing competition was started in the year 1995 in offering tribute to the great visionary Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. The drawing competition is held every year on the last week of the month of June. The prize distribution ceremony is held in a glamorous function on 1st of July, the birth day of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy.

The drawing competition is open to the school children upto class XII. Over the years, the competition has grown into its popularity and scale. Today, it is one of the sought after events in the Kharagpur locality. Children eagerly wait for the event. The B C Roy hall sincerely puts its all efforts to publicize and invite all the schools in the locality. The response has been enormous. Last year over 600 participants from over 20 schools of Kharagpur, took part in the event. A special group has been created in the competition to accommodate the mentally and physically challenged children, who are primarily supported by the organizations like Disha and Smile in Kharagpur.
